Katherine wore a very special dress to the final events of the Lake Winnipeg Water Walk, created for her by her dear friend, Anishinaabe artist Siobhan Marks.

The artist describes her work as an Ojibwe strap dress – dark blue velveteen with Ojibwe floral beadwork, Ojibwe pattern ribbonwork, copper brooches, and the Ojibwe-Cree constellation beaded on the cape.

Miigwetch to Siobhan for this amazing piece of art!

The Lake Winnipeg Foundation Congratulates the Lake Winnipeg Water Walk

The Lake Winnipeg Foundation would like to acknowledge and congratulate Katherine Morrisseau-Sinclair and the Lake Winnipeg Water Walkers as they complete their inspirational journey around our great lake, the tenth largest freshwater lake in the world.
LWF recognizes that this spiritual journey is a testament to the strength and commitment of the many water keepers we have in our lands – those who helped organize this walk, in those who supported it in so many ways, and in those who participated in it. At LWF, we are also committed to restoring and protecting the health of our lake and its watershed – now and for future generations.

We applaud the Lake Winnipeg Water Walk for playing a crucial role in raising awareness about our precious lake through storytelling and ceremony. We know you have touched many hearts, and that your efforts have inspired others to take action in their own lives and in their own ways.

Water connects us all. It was an honour for LWF staff members Dana and Kirsten to be able to walk alongside you on July 31, sharing in that special connection.

Congratulations on completing your walk. We wish you a wonderful closing celebration.
