Riverton: Wednesday, July 30
Location: Riverton Friendship Center
Walkers from Riverton will join the Lake Winnipeg Water Walkers as they pass by Riverton and will accompany them to the camping spot at Hnausa – Lakeside Camp where they will be having a traditional feast for the walkers of fish, rice and bannock. They plan to have 100 to 150 people at the feast and are hoping that Katherine will share teachings with them as they will be right beside the lake.
Tanis and Joanne from RDFC are hosting.
FYI- Lakeside Camp has indoor privys but no showers. However, walkers can use the showers in the campground next door or, if they like, can swim because they will be on the Lake shore. Should the walkers wish to sleep in the camp building it is OK but they will need to move their mattresses in from the motor home and sleep on the floor.
Walkers from Winnipeg will be waiting on Hwy. 9 south near Silver Harbour to join the walkers on the next day.
Gimli: Thursday, July 31
Once the walkers reach Gimli, there will be a feast/meal set up for them at the Gimli Multipurpose Building, (71B North Colonization Road) north of the New Horizons 55 Plus Club. People are invited to join the feast and meet Katherine and the walkers.
FYI – It will be Icelandic Festival Weekend so the town and the roads will be extremely busy.
Winnipeg Beach: Friday, August 1
On August 1 as the walkers go through the Winnipeg Beach area Sherrill Ruckert will prepare and deliver lunch to the walkers on the road.
